Other QOTSA Albums & EPs

The three Kyuss' songs are B-sides recorded at Rancho de la Luna before the band broke up; it starts with Black Sabbath's Into the Void, and then two big and fat-groovy songs called Fatso Forgetso and Fatso Forgetso Phase II (Flip the Phase).

The last three tracks are Gamma Ray sessions songs; If Only Everything and Born to Hula were released on vinyl back in 1996, Spiders and Vinegaroons was also recorded during Gamma Ray sessions, but was never previously released.

If Only Everything was later recorded for the Self-Titled debut, and its name was shortened to "If Only". Born to Hula was reworked with different lyrics and music, and then released on Stone Age Complication(s), in 2004. Spiders and Vinegaroons is one of the most powerful QOTSA instrumental tracks, it used to be the live intro tape for a long time, it is now featured as a background song to the Over the Years and Through the Woods DVD menu.

This split features two songs from each band. The Bronze is the opener, with one of the most catchy riffs and mesmerizing lap steel work QOTSA has ever done. We can also notice the clean and yet shy vocals, more evident, later, in Self-titled. These Aren't the Droids You're Looking For is the second QOTSA track. Right in the beginning we can hear the strange robotic noises, demonstrating another QOTSA characteristic, that Josh likes to call "Robot Rock". It's an instrumental track full of different riffs all over it, showing  their power to create instrumental songs without clichés. However, it has never been played more than two times live.

Stone Age Complication(s) is a 6 track EP featuring 4 B-sides tracks (3 of them are covers), one reworked song and another from the split with Beaver. It was released in April 2004 with a limited pressing of 25,000 copies.

The first song is The Kinks' Who'll Be the Next in Line, a clap-your-hands-sing-along track sung by Nick; it's also available on Feel Good Hit of the Summer Single. The second track is Subhumans' Wake up Screaming, a 5 minute aggressive tune, also sung by Nick; found on First it Giveth Single. Then it's time for a remix as No One Knows gets an UNKLE reconstruction! It's also available on No One Knows Single. The last cover is The Cramps' Most Exalted Potentate of Love, a fast song complete with shades of surfer music, which can be found on First It Giveth Single. The fifth track is a reworked version of Born to Hula which features different verses from the origional recording. The Bronze is the EP closer; it is taken unchanged from the QOTSA/Beaver Split. All of the three covers were co-produced by Alain Johannes.
