Dave Grohl is of course famous for playing drums in the band Nirvana, as well as singing and playing guitar in his own band Foo Fighters. Dave joined Queens Of The Stone Age when he was asked to play drums on “Songs For The Deaf.” He played drums on the record, and did a short tour with the band, before leaving the band and being replaced by Joey Castillo. He now can still be heard playing with the Foo Fighters, as well as doing many guest appearances with other artists.
Late in 2012, word resurfaced that Dave was back with QOTSA after Joey’s departure. Everyone got plenty excited about the prospect of seeing Dave back behind the drumkit for a QOTSA show for the first time in a decade. However, while Dave did spend plenty of time in the recording studio pounding the drums for the band’s new album …Like Clockwork, he will not tour with the Queens again anytime soon.
Of course, Dave will continue to make new music. Another Foo Fighters album is on the way and we would not be totally shocked to see Them Crooked Vultures release another record in a couple years. However, many QOTSA fans are still hoping that Dave heads behind the drumkit for one more tour with Josh and the rest of band at some point in the future.
